Project Manager for the US Coast Guard and Homeland Security project at St Elizabeth’s West Campus. USCG Central Utility Plant and the USCG and DHS Parking Garages with Clark Construction for the GSA.U.S. Coast Guard HQ Central Utility Plant (CUP) and DHS and USCG Parking Garages Washington, DC. Mckissack & Mckissack was part of the Clark Construction Design Build Team as Architect of Record for the two Parking Garages and the USCG Central Utility Plant executing the Bridging Documents Scheme Developed by Perkins and Will for the GSA. Mr. Bergen’s team preserved the historic 60,000 GSF central utility plant, designed a large underground addition to the building and a 90,000 SF Green Roof for the combined garages that provides bird habitat and storm water treatment. Managed the LEED Gold Certification design of two seven-story 804,000 GSF Garages of 1000 cars each built into the hillside at the Saint Elizabeth’s West Campus. Managed thirteen outside consultants-Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing, Physical and Electronic Security, Waterproofing Consultant, Landscape Architect, Parking Garage, Historic, Geotechnical, and Fire Protection Consultants.Additional tasks included production, coordination, geotechnical global stabilization coordination, QC Construction Documents review and coordination of the CUP with future Cogeneration Plant.2013 Presidential Inaugural Stands: Led successful pursuit and wrote large sections of the proposal for the Washington, DC DGS IDIQ Contract to provide code and ADA updates to the project design, then develop construction documents for the viewing stands.In later years McKissack & McKissack has been awarded the Inaugural Stands projects a number of times.Design Build Construction with Clark Construction of Outbound Baggage Facility at Terminal A at National Airport. Led successful pursuit of this MWAA Project which expanded baggage handling for Southwest Airlines. Managed project pursuit and project.
