I am the Chief Research Scientist at Aspen Quantum Consulting, a leading firm that provides technology assessment and due diligence for the quantum enterprise. I have over 40 years of experience in atomic, molecular, optical, and condensed matter physics, and I am a NIST Fellow Emeritus at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and past Program Manager for Atomic, Molecular and Quantum Physics at the Office of Naval Research, United States Navy.My research and innovation span the fields of quantum computing and communication, dynamics of ultracold atoms, neutron interferometry and detection, and far ultraviolet light development, measurement, and application. I have authored multiple publications, patents, and online courses on these topics, and I have received numerous awards and recognitions for my contributions. I also collaborate and advise with several international institutions and organizations, such as the Joint Quantum Institute, the Singapore Centre for Quantum Technologies, the Taiwan Institute of Nuclear Energy Research, ScienceCast.org, on advancing the frontiers of quantum physics and technology.
