As General Manager I oversaw the day to day running of four branches. Responsible for the smooth planning and running of the rota, covering branch managers holidays where needed. Sales and service. Planning the layout and merchandising of each retail store, sourcing and purchasing the majority of the product ranges for the company each year and setting out both the in-store and on-line prices. Employing and the training of new staff. Making sure company policy is followed and dealing with disciplinary action when necessary. Helping to maintain a top level of customer service. Dealing with the promotions and advertising campaigns, whether that be radio, newspaper, flyers or signage.

This was a new business and as such my line manager and myself set the entire store up from scratch. Getting involved in everything from the design and layout of the store, ranges stocked, merchandising, staffing and the day to day running of the store and its web site.

Initially employed as Branch Manager of a new store at West End, I helped with the original layout and merchandising of the store. Then responsible for staffing, rotas, training, discipline, stock ordering, merchandising and the general upkeep of the store. I was then given the opportunity to run the new Garden Centre store at Ringwood, with the added responsibility of a coffee shop and Pets Corner.

Initially employed at the Andover branch as Tent Salesman, then when Andover branch closed down I was promoted to Shop Manager at the Southampton branch. Responsible for both the shop and outside tent and awning display, sales and customer service, stock replenishment, visual merchandising and house keeping.
