Constantly ask why are we doing something and how does it benefit us?My third principle is to create a comfortable environment where people actually enjoy coming to work – the productivity will soon follow.My fourth principle is to have empathy for all stakeholders – owners, managers, lenders, customers, vendors and the greater community. You will always be a better negotiator if you truly appreciate the other side’s position.My fifth principle is to welcome thinking and acting out of the box. Don’t be afraid to consider job sharing, telecommuting, splitting job functions and allowing roles to become part-time, for example.
