About Charley Radcliffe
Sharing my passion for outdoor sports through film, digital and experiences; it’s all about connecting brands to communities in authentic, genuine, and credible ways.I am an entrepreneur with an equal number of failures to successes in my backpack but none less driven and motivated to keep on trying, experimenting, failing, and succeeding.A Londoner by birth, I started at Art School before moving to technology where I founded my own digital agency and then two start ups. However, then I discovered the mountains and, realising life was too short to be staring at a screen all day, packed my bags and moved to Chamonix where I became Community Manager for The North Face. With my experience and expertise evolving, I now specialise in working in complex and often high consequence environments; from line producing a British independent film, Summit Fever (4€M budget), in the high mountains above Chamonix, to producing athlete films for The North Face in Patagonia and the European Alps, to taking large groups journalists out into the wildest terrain to truly live the products that are being launched. Not a day goes by that I do not look up at the mountains towering above me and acknowledge that I am where I belong, doing what I should be doing.
Listed skills include Web Design, Start Ups, Social Media Marketing, Social Media, and 20 others.

Digtal Advisory Board
Producer & Director
From conception and pitching to filming and managing onto post-production and promotion.I am fortunate to work with amazing athletes and teams to share stories and adventures of insane expeditions and challenges in wild locations.Mostly this is on a brand level but in 2021 I also line produced British independent film, Summit Fever (2022 planned release), a feature film starring Ryan Phillipe, among others, set in Chamonix. My biggest challenge to date, this fil had a crew of over 50 people all trying to do their best of making a film mid-Covid.
Athlete
Digital Consultant And Product Manager
My digital agency. When I started this business, way back in 2011 I had ideas for apps and startups. However, I didn’t have the time, money or experience to realize them. Enter Medium Rare Digital.Over a few years I built up all three, working with some amazing clients, and so many different areas, and it culminated in going all in on Goals for Giving (see below). Though GfG never succeeded, I have kept on with Medium Rare but now purely as a service company in the UK.
Athlete Manager
Working with the next generation of mountain athlete talent, I supported in scouting and recruitment of the new Athlete Development Team before managing the team on a day to day basis.Nurturing the international team through personal development plans, private and group training sessions, and just being a friendly and experienced face of the company, I was able to see the team come together and grown achieving world class records and results.
Brand Event Manager
I help brands host authentic and once in a lifetime experiences to best share and communicate their message.Taking teams of journalists, wholesalers, and VIPs into the mountains on skis, foot, and on rock to live and breathe brand stories and products.Key Events with The North Face; FutureLight (Launch in France), Advanced Mountain Kit (Global/EMEA), and UTMB (Since 2016)
Community Manager
This was pretty much the dream job; living in the mountains, in the Mecca of extreme sports, and work with a brand with the coolest athletes, awesome clothing, and an internal team that are supportive, progressive, and just downright nice people. From conceiving and delivering on promotional events such as Speaker Series film and lecture evenings, to trail running, climbing and skiing with the best of the best, I come up with dream events and then execute on them.
Ambassador
Co Producer
As Co-Producer and Line Producer, I oversaw and managed all local production services for the British feature film, Summit Fever. From the initial test shoots and exploratory productions through to principal photography, I was brought together the local talent, logistics, and full production services to make this ambitious film a reality.

My blog. Is it really a business? Or work experience?Well, I will leave that for you to decide. I don’t write on it anymore, however. In the past it has been a medium for me to share my experiences, life lessons, and just me.
Technical Consultant And Founding Team Member
You know when you meet people and just want to help? This was what happened with Mike and Chris of Guerilla Policy.I genuinely cannot remember how we met but sitting down to coffee, this two talked to me about what they do; Mike working in a government policy think tank and Chris in the charity sector. They were fascinating and they had a cause. They wanted to create a platform that would be a melting pot of discussion for all things government. That by taking a guerilla approach to policy, we can better source and implement what is needed on a grass roots level. This is one of the projects I am most proud of.
Product Development Director
Coming out of the back of Goals for Giving (GfG, see below) and a summer in Chamonix (I had found my calling, I think), I was approached by Andy of OnScroll.I had dabbled in ad tech trying to find a more commercial application of the work we were completing at GfG and had popped up on their radar. They were growing massively and were in need of a product manager to help them scale their business. What a ride. It was one of the more intense projects I have been involved in and the team were simply awesome. It was, however, at a time when I was realizing my life was changing tack, that London was not for me, and that I wanted a different life. After only 9 months, I knew I could not continue and I made the move to France.
Founder
Should this be a separate entry? Well, it’s my LinkedIn so my rules.AdSugar was a brief flash in the pan of an adtech application that was born out of Goals for Giving (see below).

My baby. This was the dream. This was my startup that would teach me everything and make me a millionaire. Or not.It I crazy to think the whole business only lasted one year and it is impossible to sum up here but if I had to..:I had a hands-on, crash course MBA.I was incredibly fortunate to be backed by two business legends who took me under their wings, investing both their time and money and my idea and we burned bright and fast building an working charity fundraising / fitness application that was used by the likes of Scope, Oxfam and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.Though it was not meant to be, it taught me a huge amount. It also completely messed me up for a number of years. Coming out of the other side was a long process. Much like your first real heartbreak, I look at business and commercial opportunities very differently after what I went through here and I am still taking lessons from this pivotal year in my life. Why did it fail? It was not one single part but a combination of events and circumstances. If you want to know more, buy me a beer, I will spill all.
Project Manager
Slate was a stepping stone in my career. I was desperate to break out of managing a call centre and knew that I could produce and develop web projects. Jon took a risk on me and I will forever be greatful. His business was developing from a small agency and needed to build out their capacity to deliver on multiple projects at once. I learned to develop websites, pitch and manage clients, and build a small business here. Oh, and I picked up a passion for running with Jon’s contagious marathon enthusiasm. There came a time, however, where I wanted to do it for myself. Enter Medium Rare Digital.
Leads Manager
AI was a pivotal time in my professional career. Having lived and worked in Spain for a few years, I returned to the UK to get a ‘real job’.AI had just been acquired by a large publisher and this thriving startup (was it a startup still?) was scaling and a role to manage the call centre team came up. Having managed informal staff for years at Bravado, it was an easy switch for me and I took to the role and business like a duck to water. It was here I caught a glimpse of the start up life; the energy, the challenges, and the not least the rewards. I wanted in.This company, and Titus Sharpe, the incredibly impressive founder, inspired me for many years to come with him paying me the greatest complement by being an investor in Goals for Giving (see above).
Merchandise Manager
“I am going to make you the richest student in your halls” Russell Fogden, 2002.Russell was another incredible boss. He knew that working in live events was not where I would end up but while I was a student, he was going to make sure I benefited as much as I could. He sent me on tours with the likes of Robbie Williams and Elton John as well as touring around music festivals and even the World Superbikes. For 5 years I worked from the ground up finishing my tenure managing (the smaller) stadium shows.I remember this time incredibly fondly. Who wouldn’t ? I got to hang out backstage at Green Day!
