The golden thread throughout my life and roles has been maintaining a high level of energy and fitness, both mentally and physically. I devised and led a new strategy for night time economy securing a marked reduction in violence and knife crime. I was selected to improve a large, previously underperforming team; tasked to manage delivery of policing services across an iconic and exceptionally busy area of Central London. My initiatives achieved the greatest success across the borough, contributing to significant service improvement and a reduction in overall daytime crime by 15%. (This figure was never surpassed)

Following the 2011 London riots I was tasked to lead a specialist operation to challenge, disrupt and minimise gang activity in Central London in the run up and through the 2012 Olympics. Leading a team of 42 officers and a diverse range of Westminster partners, I delivered proactive project management and resolution of an escalation in crime; implementing change through innovative initiatives and effective response to emerging crime patterns. Working to mitigate gang activity, serious youth violence and drug offending, I tackled these complex problems with limited resources and through resilient and determined partnership working. This secured a reduction in youth violence by 71% and knife crime by 52%. I also served as a public order lead, managing deployments throughout London and Northern Ireland including response to the public unrest of 2011 and during the 2012 Olympics. I created tactical plans, delivered briefings and supervised resources. Locally, I led the proactive challenge to crime and disorder issues, conducting searches, tracing and arresting wanted, and violent, offenders. As a result of this work my team and I were awarded a Commissioner’s excellence award in Policing for ‘Outstanding Reduction in crime’
