My name is Charlie Sconiers, and I am a junior honors Biology and Mathematics double major at Howard University from Queens, NY.I realized early in life that I am a detail-oriented and analytical thinker. Ever since I was a child, I've always liked filling out long sheets of paperwork in waiting rooms, solving tedious math equations with sheets full of scrap paper, and spending hours building large LEGO sets. These meticulous activities were a joy to complete because they allowed me to combine multiple tiny units to create a beautiful, complex solution. Throughout my life, I have developed this quirk and directly implemented it into my academic career. From conducting hands-on scientific research, to externally studying computer science due to its crucial need for precision, to becoming a Biology and Mathematics double major, I’ve learned that being a methodical worker and learner is at the core of successfully working within the STEM field.Throughout my academic career, I have developed a passion for working in STEM while enforcing my altruistic beliefs directly to my occupation. This passion has led me to pursue a career as a physician-scientist, where I both would perform rigorous lab work and directly interact with patients. As a physician-scientist, I want to specialize in gerontology and neuroscience.
