Directly responsible for managing all of Polk’s global MS Windows server environment, which consisted of more than 600 physical and virtual servers, located across 15 different sites globally.* Led the technical team responsible for the evaluation, testing, and subsequent introduction and production use of Windows virtualization, to include Server 2005 R2, and Server 2008 with Hyper-V. * Successfully converted 105 physical servers into 90 virtual machines, and onto ten (10) physical hosts. This 9:1 conversion ratio allowed Polk to significantly reduce their infrastructure physical, environmental, and power footprint.* Introduced and mainstreamed the use of Microsoft’s management packs for administering Polk’s physical and virtual environments (DPM, SCCM, SCVMM, Ops Mgr). This effort significantly improved visibility into server utilization and up-time, thus providing more insight and knowledge into the planning of availability management.* Early adopter and TAP member for the DPM product. Once available for general release and production use at Polk, this allowed us to reduce our legacy NetBackup cost by more than $40K.* Effectively managed 80TB of data maintained on a tiered storage network supporting all Windows back-office and Application servers; SAN and iSCSI connectivity methods were both utilized.* Achieved a 99.99% availability rating for all services hosted on Windows platforms, resulting in a greater than 5.5 Sigma rating.Directly responsible for managing all of Polk’s global MS Windows server environment, which consisted of more than 600 physical and virtual servers, located across 15 different sites globally.http://www.microsoft.com/virtualization/en/us/case-study-detail.aspx?id=226
