12 month internship with BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team in the Quality/Supply Chain departments.Primarily working on projects surrounding design/manufacture process and methodology development and providing engineering production support to the composite manufacture department. Developing tools and documentation to be used business wide to streamline processes and reduce costs in manufacture and procurement.Also handling various aspects of production improvement, quality management and trackside fault resolution for the A524 Floor and Brake Drum Programmes. Acting as a key interface between the design office and production to resolve manufacture issues and ensure design intent is met.

Acting in a consultancy capacity for all aspects of composite manufacture and ergonomics design/solutions within formula student along side my year long placement.Providing manufacture solutions and instructional content on basic tooling design, laminating, cure cycles and component finishing/integration as well as providing H&S compliance assistance.

Lead the development of the 22/23 Front Wing from conception to finished product. Used iterative testing and CFD simulation to optimise setup and design along side designing manufacture processes for the car. Developed our teams composite skills and access within our lab spaces and created standard processes to ensure reliability and consistency within manufacture. Key skills developed included design for manufacture, in particular the application of this to composites as well as hands on composite kit cutting, laminating, cure cycle design and final component trim/fit skills.

Involved in all aspects of production from initial quotation, layup design, tooling strategy, BOM and routing preparation and development of shop floor laminating and trim/fit manuals within automotive, Formula 1 and aerospace sectors.Also played key roles in developing and testing prototype material production processes for high volume manufacture feasibility and lead all aspects of prototype tool design, manufacture and management for the ESENSE Self Heated Tooling Project in collaboration with Brunel University.
