I’ve spent the last 20+ years in Design & UX consulting, working with brands such as FedEx, Southwest Airlines, Dell, and a host of lesser-known but super interesting companies with complex problems. Now I’m focused on bringing that expertise to small business owners to help them clarify their message, and launch a rock-solid website leveraging Squarespace’s robust platform.

Voyage Embroidery, LLC is a custom merch company offering high quality embroidery and screen printing to customers all across the US.

As an Experience Director in the UX practice at projekt202 I was responsible for leading our teams on client engagements. These teams ranged in size from 3-6 people, a mix of Designers and Researchers. We often managed 2-3 projects at once. I was able to offer the teams direction in craft and best practices through my years of experience while also keeping enough distance from the work to provide a fresh set of eyes. I worked with leads in the Program Management and Technology practices on these projects to manage the client relationship, and keep the team on track through every stage of the project, from research through design and development. In addition to this, I also managed a team of 9 direct reports on career goals as well as coaching them through the ups and downs of our work. This was one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. I also assisted in the full cycle of sales pursuits, scoping projects, pitching, etc.

As a Sr. Experience Designer it was my responsibility to produce detailed workflow diagrams, wireframes, clickable prototypes, and detailed visual designs, to name just a few things. I began most projects shoulder-to-shoulder in the field with one of our researchers, conducing stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiries, and assisting with affinity diagramming. This is where design truly began on each project. Once into the full design phase I created clickable prototypes for validation testing, and refined them with user feedback. I also worked closely with developers early in the design process to make sure the concepts were feasible, then continued to work with them in-sprint to get the designs ready for development.While in this position I also had an opportunity to join the team that produced the first wave of our internal consultant training program.

My responsibilities included:• I was the Design Lead for our Unified Search product, an app that brought an e-commerce experience to the process of finding a doctor, hospital, and estimating procedure costs.• Interaction design: I produced task flow diagrams and wireframes for all screen sizes, designed new features, and redesigned existing features.• Visual design: I worked with other designers on the team to make some of the thousands of small and large visual design decisions across the application.This span of time includes the years with Clarus Health before the merger with HealthSparq.

Constellation31 was the moniker for my freelance work. As Creative Director my responsibilities included:• On-site wire framing sessions with the marketing and executive teams of our Credit Union clients• Producing higher-fidelity wireframes based on the whiteboard sketches from our on-site meetings and refining them with our clients• Writing creative briefs for our design team containing the wireframes, branding and design guidelines, and business requirements• Providing direction to the designers based on client feedback
