After a successful audition on May 18, 2024, I joined the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus. I'm singing in the Bass 1 section, just in time for the 2024-2025 season -- the Chorus's 50th year.

I sang Bass and was elected Cabinet Chair and New Member of the Year of this award-winning, auditioned choral group which has performed all over the world. I sang bass with the group for two seasons, culminating in an Italy tour with multiple performances in Sicily, Naples and Rome, including a performance in the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican.

I'm CEO, founder, author, editor and consultant with Tempamatic, Inc.A published author since 1994, I've written more than 9,000 articles, with 3 million words published in major magazines such as Wired and Popular Science, websites like Gizmodo and Mashable, and I've co-written two editions of a 100,000-word book.As a consultant, I served as talent manager and agent for the world-famous illusionist Simon Pierro, known as “The iPad Magician”. I introduced Simon to U.S. audiences, securing appearances for him on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, NBC TODAY, The Wall Street Journal‘s “Lunch Break” and Penn & Teller’s “Fool Us”.

I wrote features, reviews, tutorials and opinion pieces for a variety of online and print publications including Wired, Popular Science, Maximum PC, Studio/Monthly, Broadcast Engineering and DV Magazine. Editors continued to assign me important stories because of my consistent ability to create features and reviews that increase readership and arrive on time and under budget.

Along with my writing partner John Biggs (Gizmodo, TechCrunch, The New York Times), I wrote two editions of "Bloggers Boot Camp: Learning How to Build, Write, and Run a Successful Blog," the second of which was published by Routledge/Taylor & Francis Group in April, 2014. Fueled by our decades of experience in online media, this critically acclaimed book is highly regarded as the definitive guide for building, writing and running a successful blog.

I developed a winning weekend strategy for Mashable, a social and digital media news site with 25 million monthly unique visitors. I edited the site, assigned stories and mentored young reporters while writing 1,433 news posts, reviews and features. This earned the most revenue and highest individual traffic totals anyone had ever achieved at Mashable.

While writing the first edition of "Bloggers Boot Camp," I created features and reviews for Tech Goes Strong, an NBC Universal consumer electronics site for adults 45-65. I improved the site's approach to tech reporting, making each story more accessible to the site's target audience.

I quickly became the traffic leader there, spearheading the site's explosive growth to more than 16 million unique monthly visitors two years later. During my tour at the popular gadget blog, I wrote 4,344 posts, reviews and features while mentoring the site's numerous recruits.

I was a founding employee at web portal Digital Media Online, where my biggest success was my single-handed creation of DigitalVideoEditing.com, a site read regularly by Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. It was the most profitable site on the company's extensive list of properties. The overall portal covered consumer electronics, digital video, broadcasting and information technology.

I directed groundbreaking music programs, business series, created Emmy award-winning promotions, launched one of the first public television websites and performed voice-over work. I was Showrunner, Executive Producer and Director of both 13-show seasons of "Ecole de Cuisine,"​ a national cooking series that achieved the highest ratings in MPTV's history.

This was the NBC affiliate where I directed live local TV news under extraordinary pressure. Here's where I honed my directing skills to a fine edge in an environment where anything less than perfection was unacceptable. In addition to directing live nightly newscasts, I directed special programs and sports, created commercials and performed voice-over work.

In my younger years, I had done a lot of radio announcing and programming at several college radio stations. Leveraging that experience, I landed a part-time job as a morning drive-time announcer and interviewer at WFDD, a big-time 100,000-watt NPR affiliate.

My first TV job was at WPBT, which at the time was one of the most prolific program originators in the PBS network. Starting as an intern, I quickly advanced to teleprompter operation, refining my technique to a science I named "promptology." Soon, I had become the station's #1 national TV camera operator. After 5 years, I had mastered every job in the studio, earning my way into the control room. At first I was an associate director, and before long I was directing "The Nightly Business Report" and "Star Gazer with Jack Horkheimer" -- both national PBS programs. My favorite part of the job was producing and directing music videos (for which I was specifically trained in college) and calling the shots on fast-paced round-table discussions which often nearly devolved into fistfights between the participants.

I started playing professionally at age 13, and 15 years later I was recording an album with a Colombian big band for CBS Records. I had to grow up fast. My coming of age was a musical adventure, playing a variety of instruments (mostly alto & tenor saxophone) and musical styles in conditions ranging from a smoky sweatbox bandstand surrounded by a chain-link fence to an elegant gathering where the band played on its own island situated in the middle of an artificial pond in the backyard of a billionaire. It was an astonishing journey across multiple cultures, situations, agonies and ecstasies.
