My position as a gardener at Monticello involves planting and sustaining the agriculture and design of Thomas Jefferson's historic gardens, harvesting and processing seeds, and preparing spring beds.Throughout my time in this position, I have participated in different forms of gardening including vegetable gardening for production, flower gardening, and maintaining native plant collections in different seasons.I also completed a project that identified species and mapped tree locations with the Trimble GPS system in the Thomas Jefferson Parkway Arboretum. I am documenting tree status and manipulating data in ArcMap to work toward eventual public use.I completed a garden design for Monticello at the International Center of Jefferson Studies at Kenwood Library. The design will be a wedding and event venue, and I hope to eventually help install the garden.
