As an embroidery artist I combine my passion for theatre and textiles to create interactive multimedia installations for performer or audience interaction. I construct these artificial environments in response to my interpretation of the relationship between the natural and man-made world. Working mainly with thermoplastic materials so I can utilise the manipulative qualities of the fabric as a representation of the narrative for the performance. The environments I create are designed to provide the audience with a sensory experience. By combining free machine embroidery, coloured light, projection, film and sound.The fluid and expressive embroidery style creates energy and brings rhythm to the interactive elements of the performance. I incorporate these theatrical principles in to smaller 3D static installations for gallery pieces and commissions.
