As Head of Design for Global Packaging at M&S for over ten years, I have extensive experience in brand strategy, trend forecasting, design, art direction and creative execution across all elements of packaging, brand and logo design and in-store POS. A large part of my role was to create designs for the seasonal events which M&S is famous for – Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day. I am hugely passionate about creating designs which connect with customers and increase sales. At M&S I was also fully responsible for joined-up campaigns for other nationally important celebratory events, such as the Olympics and the Royal Jubilee.I have extensive experience in character development and I am proud to have created one of M&S’s most iconic characters – Percy Pig! My role involved managing, inspiring and creative direction across a team of 50 designers. Together we created over 10,000 pieces of packaging per year!

When M&S purchased the established sports brand - View From - created by Brendan Foster, I had the unique experience of bringing it to life for the M&S customer. I did this by updating the branding and packaging to make it relevant and desirable to both fashion conscious and sports savvy customers and by working with a team of elite sports men and women - Ellen MacArthur,Jason Robinson, Darcey Bussell, Darren Gough - to bring the brand to life in a credible way. I was responsible for all art direction for photography, creative direction across all brand touchpoints and leading a team of 8 designers.

As Senior Designer overseeing a team of 5 designers I was responsible for all packaging design for kids food, clothing and homeware, including concept and design across all seasonal ranges, character merchandise and core foods. This included development of several successful characters exclusive to M&S including Percy Pig, Cheeky Monkey, Bobo's gang and Eggs in Space. In addition to character creation I was also responsible for the creation and management of style guides.
