A passionate and motivated, Qualified and Registered IDVA, I am committed to ending gender based violence. I am now leading nationally on the new ADViSE project at IRISi- Assessing for Domestic Violence in Sexual Health Environments. IRISi’s objective is to transform the healthcare response to Domestic Violence and I am thrilled to be part of an organisation at the forefront of making change that is backed up by research.I previously managed two integral front line Domestic Violence teams at Next Link with a staff team of twenty. I led these teams through the reaccreditation process with AQS proving our advice given was of an extremely high standard.A qualified Freedom Programme, Recovery Toolkit and CRUSH facilitator I have previously delivered groups all over the city including through Probation, and provided support, supervision and guidance to a network of other trainers.I previously completed a Counselling Skills qualification through UWE in my spare time demonstrating my commitment to ongoing learning.My work has consistently entailed working with vulnerable, marginalised and deprived groups, consequently the value base that drives me centres around social justice and empowerment. I bring my experience to my role as Training Associate for Social Care Training for whom I provide Level 2 Safeguarding Adults Training for various agencies as well as for Bristol City Council and as a Freelance trainer in Domestic Violence - please get in touch to find out more.Additionally, I worked as a Helpline Volunteer Support Worker and 121 Worker for Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Service (SARSAS) for many years before recently taking on a trustee position there.I have recently taken on some Freelance work for Welsh Women’s Aid developing a toolkit around Survivor Engagement and as an Accreditation Consultant.My style is positive, and I aim to inspire people to believe in themselves.

In my temporary role with the probation service, I learnt a lot more about the public sector, as well as the probation services current restructuring, and dealing with convicted offenders on a daily basis. This was a challenging role, dealing with offenders face to face, as well as over the phone required a great deal of tact, confidence and empathy as well as the ability to deal with queries quickly, calmly, professionally and efficiently. I also dealt with obtaining and logging evidence from offenders, general admin duties as well as managing the room booking system and post, and greeting visitors from many different agencies. I also provided offenders with Pre-Sentence Report packs, and dealt with queries from linked agencies such as Prisons, Shelters, YOT’s and Councils amongst others. Data Protection was absolutely vital in this role.
