Complete clinical assessments and determine eligibility for prospective clients of Supportive Housing for Families, a child welfare program that provides rental assistance, security deposits, case management, vocational support, and parenting support for DCF-involved families who are at risk of homelessness. All families are referred by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.

Provide case management and weekly home visits to therapeutic foster homes. Collaborate with youth and foster families, as well as DCF workers, medical providers, mental health clinicians, teachers and other school staff, education surrogates, and any other important people and providers in their lives. Through these connections, provide support for areas including but not limited to permanency planning, treatment planning, success at school, other appointments, medication regimens, and overall family functioning. Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with children and their families to effectively support these areas. Provide psychoeducation to foster parents to help them better understand their children’s diagnoses and behavior that are a result of trauma. Crisis management is constant between finding respite placements, intervening in behavioral crises, and providing resources to prevent disruptions. Also responsible for regular updates of monthly progress notes, quarterly service plans, biopsychosocial assessments, individualized crisis management plans, serious event reports, PIE data, and discharge plans.

Direct care responsibilities in an after-school (and summer) clinical milieu program for children who are referred due to symptoms of behavioral dysfunction and emotional disturbance as a result of trauma. Collaborated with other Child Development Specialist staff, the EDT Supervisor, and Clinical Therapists to plan and implement daily recreational activities and therapeutic groups. Planned and held weekly field trips and pool visits during summer hours (also became a certified lifeguard for pool visits). This involved a lot of positive behavior modeling, engagement, and crisis management based in trauma-informed principles. Regular contact, relationship building, and engagement with families was important as well, often through planning and holding bi-monthly multi-family meetings. Also responsible for the majority of client chart review across the program, and for training chart review requirements across the program.
