I worked closely with businesses on Brackmills Industrial Estate to help them set up Northampton's very first Business Improvement District (BID) in 2009. Resident companies voted a resounding 'YES' to becoming a BID. Companies pool an annual levy and use this to fund a host of initiatives, all designed to improve and transform the estate. As a BID, the estate has achieved it's overall aim: To re-establish Brackmills as the Premier Business and Logistics Park in the UK and continue to support businesses based on the estate. I was appointed a Director of the BID Board in 2013 and Vice Chair in September 2019 - through this voluntary role I continue to support the BID and the companies located on Brackmills.

Responsible for the development of the Northamptonshire Logistics and Food & Drink sectors. In Northamptonshire Logistics is a key sector employing 1 in 7, whilst the Food & Drink sector is worth over £1.5billion to the local economy. NEP was a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) with a clear objective: to increase the prosperity of Northamptonshire's businesses by supporting the creation of better quality private sector jobs. NEP had a track record of working in collaboration with Northamptonshire businesses and partners and saw this joint working as an essential part of it’s strategy, helping the county's businesses go further, faster.My role was to conceptualise and implement a variety of business support and initiatives across the key sectors and large corporates to stimulate growth, job creation, collaboration and investment, working in partnership with companies, colleges, local and national organisations. Responsible for the engagement of industry from key account management with individual companies through to innovative Industry led Forums. This led to the development of a number of mutually benefit public sector & business partnerships, and attracting & supporting new business investment.With industry involvement the first Northamptonshire Logistics Awards was created and delivered in April 2016 to promote the achievements of the logistics sector in Northamptonshire. NEP merged with SEMLEP in 2016.

This BID enabled £2million over 5 years to be invested on the estate to enable regeneration and business growth. Ahead of this successful BID vote we achieved funding of £500,000 for the Brackmills Estate used to install CCTV, improve signage, creation of parking areas to ease lorry parking on the estate.

Working as an account manager for key companies based in the county of Northamptonshire, mainly large UK Companies and foreign owned companies. Supporting the companies through all cycles of business from growth to times of change with the ultimate aim of securing their investment and growth in the county.Working at strategic level with senior management in overseas companies to identify and develop new investment opportunities and work with public and private sector partners to ensure that the correct package of business support available to ensure success in a globally competitive environment. Managing special company projects especially in the context of government’s response to the economic down turn.

The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) is the voice of the UK food and drink industry, the largest manufacturing sector in the country (www.fdf.org.uk)I was responsible for the management of a diverse portfolio of food trade associations (UK and European Associations). This required an overview of the food safety, health & wellbeing and regulatory issues relevant to the associations as well as managing budgets. I represented the views of the associations in front of regulators, stakeholders and European organisations and the European Commission.
