I work for Helen Sanderson Associates, a social enterprise business working with people, organisations and communities to create person centred change. HSA works across health, education and social care and have teams in UK, Australia, USA and Canada. I started out as an Occupational Therapist working with people with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire in 1989. I am passionate about Person Centred Planning and practices and potential this has for transforming peoples lives. I have an Msc in Applied Psychology and have worked for 13 years in Oxfordshire Learning Disability NHS Trust in a range of roles including operational residential support management and project management, supporting people in Oxfordshire to move into supported living. I have been with HSA since its inception in 2001 and have also been part of the delivery team for the SEN and Disability Green Paper: Preparing for Adulthood Programme, between 2012 and 2014 and take a keen interest in how to support young people to move into full adult lives, with the inherent issues this raises for the personalisation journey. Most of my work within HSA includes SEND (special educational needs and disability) transition and young people moving into adulthood, Person-Centred Reviews, Preparing for Adulthood Reviews, Working Together for Change, as well as delivering support to the Personalising Education project.
