I manage the daily operations and content strategy for a 12-person digital team consisting of digital reporters and content producers. I utilize analytics to make editorial decisions with a goal of growing our digital audience. I oversee our website, apps, newsletters, digital news desk and special projects. I’m responsible for ensuring our team meets its goals and the overall website goals set by Nexstar Media each year. I provide digital leadership and communication on all multi-department projects.

As the editor for Grand Rapids Magazine I provided editorial direction and strategy to grow our subscriptions and newsstand sales. I oversaw a cover-to-cover redesign of the magazine's editorial content in 2019. I planned, assigned, edited, and wrote content for every issue. I collaborated with the creative director and her team on each issue, and I managed a team of freelance writers and college interns.

I helped launch grmag.com, serving as its first editor. This digital lifestyle publication covers arts, entertainment, and culture in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I oversaw the daily operations, managed the editorial content for the site, and led a team of freelance writers and interns. Our goal was to build the site into the go-to resource for the greater Grand Rapids community, and to build our audience through our diverse coverage.The website launched in July 2017. Prior to its launch I was charged with developing the content direction for the publication, recruiting freelance writers, and designing an internship program.

I was a reporter at the Grand Rapids Business Journal (a Gemini Media publication), writing enterprise articles for the daily digital edition as well as the weekly print edition. I provided content for three bi-weekly e-newsletters: Michigan Made, The Pulse and Legal Notice. I covered health care, manufacturing, law, travel and tourism, transportation, arts and entertainment, sustainability, and advertising, marketing and PR.I occasionally appeared on WGVU's West Michigan Week on behalf of GRBJ as a media panelist to discuss pertinent issues related to the business community in West Michigan.

Provided writing, editing, media relations and social media strategy for a broad range of clients, including clients in the health care, professional services, food manufacturing and arts & entertainment industries. Developed press releases, media pitches, social media posts, articles, speeches, talking points and background materials to assist clients in meeting their strategic public relations goals. Experienced in creating relevant local, regional and national media lists using CisionPoint database to target media appropriately, and built relationships with local reporters.Additional responsibilities included: social media management, consultation and strategy development, assisting in planning and managing press conferences and media events, coordinating media appearances for visiting performers, and website updates.
