As a research assistant for Dr. Kristin Slade for three consecutive summers, I was tasked with several projects to investigate the effects of macromolecular crowding on enzyme kinetics. Daily work includes performing multiple kinetic assays, measuring absorbance using the UV/Vis spectrophotometer, preparing solutions, analyzing data, and researching possible explanations. Other tasks include fluorescence studies, viscometry, DNA transformation, protein expression and protein quantification. I've also completed my honors thesis based on this research and presented my findings at various local and national conferences.
