• Managed purchasing, merchandising, POS, and inventory control for an independent bookseller with retail sales of $1,650,000 per year.• Set up and launched the store.• Supervised a diverse staff of nine.Accomplishments:Customers frequently complimented the selection of approximately 3200 titles as being the best they had ever seen in an airport bookstore.I developed and nurtured relationships with several national authors who gladly met patrons and signed stock when they traveled through LAX.Our store achieved an astounding 92% efficiency with just over six inventory turns per year.

• Coordinated distributions, inventory, and merchandising direction for 37 client newsstands and bookstores in seven Southern California airports.Accomplishments:I designed and created an innovative merchandising and reordering tool for merchandisers’ use to increase compliance with client requirements.I was employee of the Month an unprecedented three times in fewer than two years for: 1. Assuming supervisor’s responsibilities during his two week hospitalization.2. Developing the merchandiser reordering tool.3. Launching and executing a complex signed copy promotion by acquiring over 1000 signed bookplates from several publishers and authors, resulting in an 89% efficiency, incremental sales, and satisfied clients and suppliers.

• Managed book purchasing, distributions, inventory, merchandising, and sales analysis for five Distribution Centers covering five Midwestern states totaling $28 million in retail sales per year.• Trained and directed five book coordinator associates to best meet the goals of their individual Distribution Centers.Accomplishments:I reworked distributions for over 2000 accounts resulting in a 22% increase in efficiencies.I performed and oversaw a year-end inventory purge, resulting in lean and relevant inventories for all five Distribution Centers.

Columbus, Georgia

After 2 ½ years, sales increased from $110,000 per year to $512,000 per year due to acquisition of competitors’ shelf space through my merchandising, purchasing, and customer service efforts.
