Lazymeal Inc. is a food ordering service that connects hungry people with restaurants in their area for food delivery and takeaway. In the beginning, we grossly underestimated the complexities involved in creating a scalable business in a low margin industry which interfaces and connects with both the customer and the restaurant. Creative Media is a Vancouver based marketing agency specializing in direct mail. Our business was to broker names and mail lists. Success is largely based on small margins and subtle changes. Scale, cost, optimization, and automation are key factors in controlling cost and growth.My time at CMI saw gains in the automation of core systems and expansion into new foreign markets. I gained great exposure to mid-level business operations through direct research projects for the CEO, assisting the accountant, and managing a 5 person full-time team and numerous contract staff. By sourcing talent and assuming responsibilities I was able to quickly rise in the organization and learn all aspects of the business.My final responsibilities at CMI included:- Directed technology including the automation of the core business system involved with merging, cleaning, tracking, seeding, and mailing lists.- Directed fulfilment including the procurement, mailing, ordering and tracking of physical mail and goods.- Assisted accounting in both account receivable by tracking outstanding list sales and deals and accounts payable by entering list sale invoices with to the penny accuracy.- Research projects included marketing pitch in favour of the importing of Beer Lao and the production of the creative packaging, nutritional composition, and GS1 encoding of a salmon burger product for Green Earth Organics.

Click-a-thon is a Vancouver-based startup where our mission was "To support worthy causes". We accomplished this using an online donation based pledging system. For example, a school with a fundraising purpose would create an event for their students to approach their contacts via email requesting a pledge of support. Clickathon was a marketplace for participants seeking donors to support worthy causes.At Click-a-thon I worked support and liaisoned between management and outsourced development.Responsibilities included:- Modify and set up PowerPoint presentations for the CEO.- Design, introduce, and maintain a support system including integrated video tutorials, user guides, and chat system for Donors, Participants, and Event Coordinators.- Complete specification documents, flow charts, and work request proposals at the request of senior consultants.
