Dr Charu Prakash is a Partner at both Global Ascent Partners and Anchal Ventures. Both firms have angel-invested in deep-tech startups in the fields of semi conductors, IoT, robotics, and ed-tech. Based currently in Silicon Valley, New Delhi and Seattle, Charu is looking to expand the portfolios to India Before this Charu was Orangewood Labs' US Head of Operations. Also was Strategy lead and VP Marketing at SENSCO Austin, which is an IoT deep-tech sensor-driven start- up in the water monitoring /measurement industry. Charu has been an academician and start-up mentor. As Partner at Anchal Ventures and Global Ascent Partners LLC, she has co-invested in deep-tech startups (semiconductors, video compression, sensors), ed-tech (project-based learning) companies, fin-tech, and data-aggregator enterprises. Charu has considerable international knowledge of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in USA, and Japan. Charu started her career 30 years ago in India as a marketing strategy and market research consultant with Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB/ Kantar), where she had advised 25+ companies and brands in the FMCG spacec(Pepsi, CocaCola, HMM, Glaxo Smith Klein, Unilever, Proctor and Gamble, Nestle and Gillette). Teaching assignments have included University of Houston, IIMT Ghaziabad, UC Berkeley, and Amity University in New Delhi.Interests include Saajha ( empowering parental-teacher cooperation in Indian municipal schools), NavGurukul ( metamorphing low literacy disadvantaged students into star computer coders), ZoukLoans, Imago.ai, Orangewood Labs Inc, and SimulanisCharu earned a Ph.D. in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from Univeristy of California Berkeley and University of Houston; an MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, New Delhi; and a Bachelors (Honors) in Math and Statistics from Hindu College, Delhi University.Charu now is now looking to angel-invest in Seattle and Delhi. Current portfolio includes, among others : Orangewood Labs (YC W18), Zoukloans and Theranosis (bio-tech).Kizki Fund in Japan is also a current projrct, set up in partnership with NEDO Japan.
