Hi, my name is Chase James. I recently finished my PhD at Scripps Institution of Oceanography working under Dr. Andrew Barton and Dr. Andrew Allen. My PhD work largely focused on identifying the patterns and processes that connect the physical and chemical environment present off the coast of California to the base of the marine food web. I am currently working as a postdoc at USC under Dr. Naomi Levine developing a trait-based, eco-evolutionary model for phytoplankton to better understand how phytoplankton (base of the marine food web) might adapt to a changing climate.My interests are wide ranging and I have experience in time series analysis and prediction, machine learning, statistics, and consulting (working as the primary data analyst and project leader).
