I have had a major illness and been away from work for over a year now. I have been released to return to work and am excited to get back to it. I had always wanted to work in vehicle design, Drake Scruggs equipment company gave me a great opportunity within the Truck Equipment industry to do that. I had the chance to interact with chassis manufacturers, Body manufactures, and manufacturers of equipment such as snow blades, lights, hydraulics, aerial lifts, cranes, etc...I have gained a wealth of knowledge about standards of practice for trucking equipment, as well as the legal requirements for NHTSA compliance. I look forward to other opportunities in the vehicle/equipment design industry, but I also welcome the challange of moving to a new industry.

As a purchasing manager, I would oversee the procurement of raw materials, as well as the allocation of materials and staging of materials for jobs. I also took on the role of site logistics for the purposes of shipping and receiving. I took the lead on may projects in my time at Certified tank, utilizing my skills to perform tasks such as: Operating heavy equipment(forklifts/semis/cranes), creating and maintaining excel spreadsheets, acting as an electrician for the physical plant as well as wiring and testing production assemblies.The thing that I enjoyed most about the work I had here was the variable nature of the work. Often the nature of my role allowed me the time to deal with emergent situations, allowed me to problem solve in real-time to keep production on schedule. The flexibility in the work also allowed me to explore the production process as a whole and allowed for me to try to innovate our systems.This role beyond any other lead me to want to pursue a career in Industrial Design. looking at a manufacturing or production process and trying to design better equipment machinery, facilities, tracking systems, and teams to improve quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
