Stonewater Roofing, 696 S.W.3d 646 (Tex. 2024), Chase authored briefs and presented argument that persuaded the Texas Supreme Court to narrowly construe the Texas Insurance Code to avoid First Amendment violations and establish the legality of a client’s business model.In Repifi Vendor Logistics, Inc. v. IntelliCentrics, Inc., No. 2021-1906 (Fed. Cir. 2022), Chase authored briefs and presented argument that persuaded a federal appeals court to invalidate a patent as ineligible under 35 U.S.C. §101 at the pleadings stage, resulting in early dismissal of costly patent litigation in the Eastern District of Texas.In Chan v. HEI Resources, Inc., 512 P.3d 120 (Colo. 2022), Chase authored briefs that persuaded the Colorado Supreme Court to affirm in relevant part a decision vacating over $8 million in damages for alleged securities fraud and remanding for initial determination of whether the clients’ interests are subject to securities regulation at all.In AMS Sensors USA Inc. v. Renesas Electronics America Inc., No. 4:08-cv-00451 (E.D. Tex. 2021), Chase served as trial counsel for a semiconductor company that secured a jury verdict of $85.9 million in damages for trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract.
