At Lume, I worked directly with the founder to run digital marketing campaigns, start and manage the influencer program, create customer service systems, oversee fulfillment and daily brand operations.

While working with Neva Wear, a young Kansas City-based startup, I oversaw a rebranding effort that included everything from content strategy and creation to website redesign and everything in between. I worked directly with the founder to determine objectives and educate on digital marketing best practices. Work was primarily on a project basis.

As a staff writer for the Kansas State University Collegian, I wrote articles ranging from news to opinion. Part of my responsibilities as a writer were to research topics, gather relevant information, interview sources, and work with the editors to finalize the articles. While writing for the Collegian, I was able to cover live events, write opinion pieces covering politics and culture, and create editorial feature pieces on campus topics.

In 2013 I was selected to take part in a sociological study of the recent conflict in Uganda, Africa. My professor and I, along with our small team, spent three months traveling through Uganda, gathering qualitative data and stories from the groups with whom we stayed. As a research assistant, I was in charge of interviewing individuals, collecting data, recording information from study groups, and transposing that information. This opportunity gave me the chance to interact with people from widely different backgrounds, communicate in new ways, learn new languages, and expand my worldview.

While at TOMS, I was assigned several projects over the summer, ranging from wholesale, account management, and product development to retail marketing. Every day was different; I had to be on my A game at all times. My first assignment was with the wholesale department where I was asked to build an independent master-list for the wholesale accounts. My second, I was assigned to the eyewear design team where, apart from aiding in daily tasks, I developed an international research portfolio for the team. I also had the opportunity to take part in a retail-focused experiential marketing effort as part of a larger campaign.In addition to my individual assignments, I was part of a retail marketing project with the intern tribe. Our team was tasked with creating an experiential framework to apply to the new retail locations that would coincide with the TOMS brand. I lead my team in developing the acoustical atmosphere of the retail locations. We collaborated with multiple departments to acquire music licensing, test in-store technologies, and build a branded music newsletter for the retail locations.

As an aquatics manager, I oversaw the entire daily functions of the water park. I worked with the staff and lifeguards to make sure the various departments were operating; I worked with the aquatics director on projects and updates, maintained the chemical balance of the pools, and coordinated training practices for the lifeguards in accordance to the Red Cross requirements.
