We investigated the potential for commercialization of metabolic engineering technologies that have been developed in the Chappell lab. These technologies focus on sustainable/alternative production methods for triterpene oils. I am continuing projects that I worked on as part of my PhD and working towards improving our microbial production systems for the compounds we are interested in.

Completed my PhD degree in Plant Physiology in the Chappell laboratory. My projects involved genetically engineering plants and oilseeds for the production of interesting and novel triterpene compounds. I also functionally characterizing enzymes which are involved in generating the complexity of triterpene molecules. These molecules have utility in medicinal, industrial, and biofuel applications.
While working on my MS degree, I was responsible for leading and teaching undergraduate laboratory sections for the freshman courses: Principles of Biology, Introduction to Animal and Plant Physiology. I also served as a teaching assistant for the upper division course, Introduction to Recombinant DNA.
