Chase is a research associate at the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, located at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. As one of the Department of Defense’s six regional centers, his work at the Perry Center focuses on security cooperation with partners in Latin America and the Caribbean. Chase has spent over a decade researching the region, specializing in Latin American history, politics, and security and defense.Prior to his work at the Perry Center, Chase was an AmeriCorps Spanish Literacy Tutor in Austin, Texas, before serving in the Dominican Republic as a Literacy Promotor for the Peace Corps. Thereafter, Chase worked in Bogotá, Colombia, as a research assistant at an economic think-tank focused on Colombian energy trading, gender-based violence, and forced displacement.Chase has an M.A. in security studies with a concentration in terrorism and substate violence from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
