Technical Project - Abex Satellite
The state of Alabama is attempting to be the first state to send a fully student-designed satellite into space. ABEX is the organization of undergrad students managed by graduate systems engineering students. A team of two others and I are designing the Energy Harvest System (EMS) for the satellite. This includes everything between the solar panels and research instruments, which includes power optimization, storage, distribution and safety features. The system is completely digital.My roles include Team Lead, designing the hardware and assisting the other two members with the software. I also do the budgeting, part selection and documentation.
Technical Project - Nasa Robotic Mining Competition
Mechanical Lead on the University of Alabama's team in a yearly competition held by NASA. The goal was to create an autonomous robot able to mine in simulated Mars terrain. Due to significant contributions, I represented the team as the Technical Lead in the 2019 National Space Grant Conference. Three others and I presented our design to various congressmen, senior researchers and NASA executives in the Capitol Building, Washington D.C.Achievements:- Introduced new design which demolished the previous record production- Created highly complex Solidworks model with members of the team- Solidworks model was able to work in Solidworks Simulation- Lead the mechanical team and recruited more team members in an effort to increase team size- The team won the competition every year while competing against 49 other top universities from across the United States.

The second part of a two part internship. While including the tasks from the previous part, more responsibilities were added. The internship included designing and ordering parts or testing apparatus, calibrating equipment and collecting data. Furthermore, the position oversaw the fielding and hiring of third party contractors on projects up to $15,000.
