Musician, Author, Podcaster. Near-Death Experience Podcast is an exploration of the experiences of those who have passed on to the other side (died, or come close to death), and who had some kind of experience while their body was unconscious, and then were revived and returned to life. The purpose of this program is to learn what we can about life in that spiritual world, and what it can teach us about how to live best in this one.

Chas Hathaway has been playing piano for fourteen years, and writing solo piano music for thirteen. Though he enjoys playing cover music, writing original pieces is his real passion. Chas was once in a conversation with a friend, and they were talking about musical concepts, such as harmony and form. After mentioning the power of beat and rhythm, the friend asked Chas, "In your opinion, what is the greatest musical factor in determining the influence of a song?" Chas responded, "The single greatest factor in determining the effect of a piece of music on people is the intent of the artist." Chas has always felt that music must be uplifting and have a positive message if it is to have any lasting value. He feels that every piece of music has a message, and the greatness of a piece has more to do with the intent of the message than any musical factor.

Took photos of events, took live video stream of sports in the school's ethnicallydiverse community. Maintained the school's website. Did various types of graphicdesign (brochures, website, logos and website buttons, magazines, etc). Maintainedthe school's social networks (Facebook page, Youtube account, etc). I used basicHTML for the website. I also did writing for the school newsletter and magazine.

Served the university environment by setting up for banquets and other events. Alsocleaned floors, offices, and hallways.

Created a peaceful atmosphere for cemetery visitors. Maintained the groundsthrough flower gardening, sprinkler maintenance, and yard work. Dug holes andcleaned up after services.

Listened to customers, researched books and products, and recommended specificitems based on individual needs. Answered questions, resolved customer concerns,placed orders for products, provided customer service, and held a specificresponsibility for maintaining a non-fiction section. I believe my service was a greathelp to customers.

Taught four children’s arts and crafts classes. Planned and implemented curriculumand activities for children ages 3-12.

In the summer, performed deepcleaning and sprinkler/yard maintenance.OtherHighlightsEducation Wrote and published a religious nonfiction book on dating and marriagethrough Cedar Fort, Inc, which was released in July 2011, and anotherbook about scripture study methods that Cedar Fort will be publishing inthe next year. Wrote and self-published a memoir of my LDS mission. Ihave another nonfiction book preparing for submission now. I also havethree completed first-drafts of Young Adult and Middle-Grade sci-fi/fantasy novels that are being redrafted to prepare for submission. Served two years in the leadership of the South City Institute Council(LDSSA), where I helped plan and implement various group activities,including leadership retreats and training programs. I also helped planweekly activities and council meetings. Published and produced 4 albums of my original piano solo music.I'vetranscribed many of my pieces to sheet music, and have one sheetmusic book published. I've attended a number of Writing conferences, where I studied andtook part in workshops on various aspects of writing, publishing, andthe book industry. In 2013, I will be presenting workshops at some ofthese conferences. Served a full-time, 2 year mission to Johannesburg, South Africa.Taught people, and helped them make and keep commitments. Servedin leadership capacities with other missionaries.
