Additionally these sites provided hub and core networking for the company’s 50,000+ customers in 3 western states. • Provided cross-departmental roles as Data Center Subject Matter Expert; Product Engineer for Marketing, Data Center Specialist for Infrastructure Engineering. Collaborated with engineering on upgrades to the other switch collocation facilities throughout California, Nevada and Texas to raise them to Tier level datacenter centers.• Developed fully integrated, customer, product and facility operations ‘Data Center Infrastructure Management’ (DCIM) application platform, utilizing DevOps teaming concepts. Application used by entire organization to provide a customer-centric support and management experience for the retail datacenter customers.• Developed and built custom main-plant and power distribution monitoring system with Wattnode CT collectors by Modbus to SNMP where custom pollers inserted meter data in to a MySQL database. Power data was used to track for reporting and Green efforts at the data centers.• Custom designed and built datacenter HVAC hot and cold aisle containment system reducing cooling energy by 27% while effectively increasing center cooling capacity with existing HVAC systems. • IT and Data Center management of the company’s 18,500sq' mixed-use data center. • Engineered and managed many successful projects to consolidate and virtualize the vast majority of physical servers and storage filers. Tape and disk backup libraries moved to SAN based architecture. • Result of Blade server virtualization and SAN and projects reduced nightly DB processing from up to 22 hours to 30 minutes. This success was paramount to enable the corporate strategy of entry into international call termination markets where real-time call profile monitoring is necessary to mitigate high call fraud risk.• All servers across the enterprise brought up to compliance with new hardware and OS standard management policies. New requirements were enforced to manage standard build process and “golden” image from SAN. Automation was achieved by SAN or PXE booted base images with Kickstart files to add servers to the environment from which then Puppet configuration change management over multiple servers would take place.• Various multi-phase production network projects, servicing over 10500+ network nodes, of migrating to new Ethernet networks across three datacenters, while incorporating full packet capture and analysis capability.• Developed a distributed multi-service Nagios monitoring platform covering over 65000 network nodes. Many custom plugins were developed to solve industry specific challenges, such as custom SNMP trap receiver/ front-end consolidator by insertion into database where additional monitoring logic could be applied to provide clarify when thousands of notices per second are being sent from network during an event.
