The Global Health Impact Project is dedicated to quantifying the worldwide effects of essential medicines. By creating an empirical score for drugs, it becomes possible to compare and rank companies by their overall impact combating infectious disease.As the group leader for the GHI data/modeling team, my primary responsibility was overseeing the development of the project's mathematical models in Microsoft Excel. These programs were created for a number of major illnesses, including HIV, TB, Malaria, and several neglected tropical diseases (NTD's). Within each model, drug impact scores were calculated country-by-country before being aggregated by patent-holder.My other duties as the modeling team lead included supervising a group of both undergraduate and graduate students who I trained to work on the models. During weekly meetings, I would begin with a summary of pertinent issues and goals before assigning individual tasks. The remainder of the meeting would be spent assisting team members with their work. I was also responsible for introducing new members of the project to our conceptual and statistical methods. Additionally, I gave presentations about GHI on multiple occasions. Examples include a discussion of the project at a meeting of the local Engineering World Health club and a poster presentation at the Binghamton Institute for Multigenerational Studies Research Day.

I worked for the Mechanical Engineering Department in a primarily clerical role, but utilized my technical skills in order to assist professors with their individual tasks. Examples include:- A teacher required a way to calculate the price of 3D printing jobs, based on factors such as type/quantity of raw materials. I designed an Excel spreadsheet to compute the cost with simple, clear inputs required by user.- A new facility was being constructed for the department, including a laboratory. I was provided a list of required devices and their dimensions, which I used to create paper cutouts of those devices to scale with blueprints of the lab. These were used to model potential layouts for the necessary electric and gas lines.- I designed several department flyers using Adobe Photoshop.
