SunPower created world's most efficient commercial solar cells with its IBC technology (now Maxeon) and has been a pioneer of renewable industry with more than half million operating solar and storage assets. As a lead data scientist at SunPower, I championed machine learning and optimization products into workflows to deliver business value to a wide variety of stakeholders, such as operations, project finance, module R&D, customer service. These products leveraged SunPower's multi-decade operational data along with contextual data such as satellite and MET station weather, electrical load, emissions, price signals and behaviourial data. The portfolio of these products powered diagnostic and forward looking insights, and drove executive decisions for SunPower's fleet of PV and PV+BES systems.

Originally incepted at Volterra Semiconductors and later incubated by Maxim Integrated's Advanced R&D group, solar BU was an exciting new direction for the company. Our product was a unique ASIC that found application in DC optimizers for solar modules and BMS systems for Li-ion batteries. Later, it evolved into a software defined radio + power control version to provide SunSpec signal compatibility for meeting rapid shutdown requirements. As a solar PV SME and data scientist, I led the technical and commercial value proposition modeling functions, delivering value to business development, technical customer engagement and R&D.

Varentec was a smart-grid start up that provided an innovative solution to the voltage regulation on edge of grid problem. It leveraged IOT and power electronics for enabling Volt-VAR control and a smart data analytics platform. They were funded by Khosla ventures and Bill Gates.

Enecsys was a microinverters startup with a novel, inherently reliable power train topology. The solution also came with a wireless mesh based communication system for monitoring and implementing smart grid protocols. Enecsys spun out of University of Cambridge, UK and was funded by several VCs including Wellington Partners.

Azuray Technonologies was a start up aiming to revolutionize MLPE market with a single chip solution for microinverters. Later, we introduced one of the first DC optimizers in the market with power line communication capabilities. It was leaps ahead solution for safe rapid shutdown and power optimization. Azuray spun out of a research project in University of Oregon and was part of NEA venture capital's portfolio.

Deevee electrosystems was an R&D driven OEM serving the power electronics, electromechanical instruments, control systems market in India.
