While working as a Physician Educator at Doctors Community Hospital, I provide education to users so that their use of the Meditech 6.0 system is a smooth transition. We are launching CPOE April 2013 and are currently educating users for that phase. Our hospital is using a phased-in approach and hope to have about 300 physicians trained and using CPOE by then end of 2013. My day-to-day responsibilities include: *Train physicians on documentation (PDoc) to comply with the hospital regulation of completing all patient notes electronically within Meditech 6.0*Train physicians on Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) to comply with hospital regulation of completing all patient orders electronically Meditech 6.0*Work out processes within the hospital in regards to optimizing workflow with an EMR*Provide support for physicians one-on-one, making rounds throughout the hospital regularly to assist end users*Create templates for documentation with input from users while adhering to HIPAA and hospital guidelines*Routinely take ‘on-call’ shifts to assist users via telephone during off hours *Head trainer for Dragon Speech Recognition software*Create and distribute training materials for end users, both printed and via email*Maintain a log of completed trainings and contact physicians delinquent in training*Follow-up and re-train users showing a need for improvement*Follow-up with users noted by Quality and Risk Management who need further training*Provide minimal Help Desk responsibilities—assist users with passwords, wireless access, printer issues, etc.*Work evening and weekends as required, including overnights if needed to support night shift users
