For a separate client, I drafted a Motion for Early Termination and a Motion for Expungement that were granted by the court without litigation.

In this unit I worked on Income security, removal of barriers to employment, SSI/SSDI, CalWorks, General Assistance, CalFresh, and county-based indigent programs. During my time in the Oakland office, I worked in the Housing Preservation Unit. In this unit I worked on landlord-tenant matters, subsidized and public housing issues, unlawful evictions, foreclosures, habitability, and enforcement of fair housing laws.

The Community Economic Justice Clinic advances people-oriented economic development and empowers low-income communities of color to build long-term solutions to poverty in the East Bay through a racial justice and anti-displacement lens. In my summer internship, I worked with a local business owner on non-profit and corporate compliance. I drafted memorandums, conducted client meetings and developed client relationships. I also worked on housing legislature that would allow tenants the right to purchase a property if the owner decides to sell or destroy the property. I worked with Berkeley lawmakers to shape policy and further tenant housing interest.
