Principal Engineer, Team Leader (Generation - Northern)
Current> Leading design and engineering teams for concept/ feasibility studies, front end engineering (FEED), detailed design, construction management and commissioning of Instrumentation, Control Systems and Functional Safety projects.> Customer relationship manager (CRM) for multiple clients in power sector.> Facilitating Safety in Design (SiD) review, CHAZOP, LOPA, SIL review, and Alarm Rationalisation workshops.> Reviewing technical quality of instrumentation, and control systems design tasks and deliverables, to ensure it complies with the regulations, AS/ NZS/ IEC standards and site/client requirements.> Ensuring on-time, on-budget completion of engineering tasks and deliverables.> Identifying project risks and complex design issues and collaborating with engineers, project delivery team and/ or client stakeholders to resolve them.> Managing and allocating resources for specialist engineering and design tasks, as required.> Reporting project progress, cost performance, man-hour performance, scope changes and issues on a regular basis to the project delivery team.> Following the principles of 'Safety in Design' and 'Zero Harm' for the lifecycle of the facility.> Developing sustainable and socially responsible engineering and design solutions for the industry.> Developing and verifying engineering and design processes and standards for the organisation.> Mentoring intermediate and junior engineers, focussing on the development of key competencies.KEY PROJECTS:> Safety Critical Elements (SCE) Verification - Confidential (Independent Verification Authority)> Binary Plant Alarm Rationalisation – Eastland Generation (Facilitator/ Lead)> Binary Plant Safety System Upgrades – Eastland Generation (Specialist Engineer/ QA)> Control System Upgrades – Mercury (Lead Engineer/ QA)> Safety in Design Review – Vector Ltd (Facilitator)> Fire and Gas Upgrades – Mercury NZ Ltd (Lead Engineer)> Multiple Distribution projects - Vector Ltd (Project Engineer)
