Dr. Charles Lam is Senior Advisor - Greater China (previously Co-Head of APAC Diversified Funds) in EQT Exeter. Dr. Lam worked for BPEA as Managing Director, Real Estate based in Hong Kong with primary focus on Greater China real estate investments from Nov 2011 until Oct 2022, when the company joined forces with EQT and was renamed BPEA EQT. Dr. Lam was previously the Managing Director, Greater China of Pramerica Real Estate Investors (now known as PGIM), a subsidiary of Prudential Financial U.S. and one of the largest real estate investors in the world. Dr. Lam opened its Hong Kong office in September 2007, started with six professionals with responsible for the real estate acquisition as well as asset management in Greater China. During his 4-year stay with PREI Dr. Lam has completed over US$1 billion of real estate investments, refinancing, and disposition projects in China and in Hong Kong. Dr. Lam was formerly the Director, Head of Real Estate Investment of China Ping An Trust and Investment Co., Limited, the investment arm of the Ping An Insurance Group headquartered in Shenzhen, China where he spearheaded the real estate investment business for the company. Since joining Ping An in 2005, Dr. Lam was responsible for investing more than US$900 million in hard assets and development projects across China and built an acquisition and execution team of 15 professionals.Prior to his employment with Ping An, Dr. Lam was an Associate Director of AIG Global Real Estate Investment (Asia) based in Hong Kong, where he identified, analyzed, negotiated, structured and closed real estate investment and financing deals in Greater China and South Korea with total investment value of more than US$1.5 billion. Dr. Lam joined AIG in 1998 until 2005.Before joining AIG, Dr. Lam was with the Hong Kong office of The John Buck Company (a Chicago-based real estate development and investment firm) from 1995-1997 as an Associate Director for the company’s real estate business in Asia. Dr. Lam began his real estate career with Sun Hung Kai Properties Group of Hong Kong in 1992 with a major focus in China real estate projects.
