I am a culinary innovator and advocate for food justice, with over 20 years of experience dedicated to transforming communities through sustainable agriculture, culinary education, and food policy. My career has been shaped by a profound belief in the power of food to heal, connect, and inspire. I combine my culinary expertise with a mission-driven approach to address food insecurity, chronic health disparities, and environmental sustainability. As the founder of Sprouts & Spice Agricultural Academy, I lead a transformative educational program that empowers youth to grow, harvest, and cook their own nutritious meals. Our initiatives go beyond traditional cooking classes by integrating sustainable farming practices, food literacy, and community engagement, with a focus on underserved communities. Through hands-on workshops and strategic partnerships with schools and local organizations, we equip young people with the skills and knowledge to build resilient, food-secure futures.Currently, I am also a Humanity in Action Democracy Fellow, where I lead Soulful Seeds: Cultivating Community Through Food and Film, an innovative project based in Raleigh, North Carolina. This initiative combines agriculture, storytelling, and culinary arts to foster cultural heritage and collective action around food justice. Soulful Seeds engages youth, farmers, and community leaders in a visual podcast series and farm-to-table events, highlighting the history and future of African American agricultural heritage while promoting food literacy and sustainable living. My work is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to nutritious food and the skills to create positive change within their communities.
