I built connections between the library and the community, both on-site and online. My responsibilities include:-Managing the Library website and social media channels, including providing strategic direction for the library's online presence, the technical implementation of the site and management of online communities. -Developing community engagement partnerships (internal and external), strategic plans and policies which make the library available to all people, including proactively building and maintaining productive relationships with community groups, library users and relevant Council departments.

I work alongside communities to build capacity, develop skills and create connections with Council and other organisations. With a focus on volunteering, I support community organisations to elevate the profile of volunteering in their organisations.

I was responsible for managing all events, programs and promotion for the Stonnington Library and Information Service, including:-Developing and coordinating permanent programs, holiday programs, student study programs as well as events such as author talks and theatrical performances.-Curating and managing the production of the annual literary festival.-Developing and implementing a promotional plan for the library.-Producing marketing material.

I managed a project to implement RFID across the library service. This involved managing all aspects of the project, including:-Managing the Tender Process -Budget oversight-Developing and delivering a project plan-Managing resources, including staff and contractors-Staff training -Developing and delivering a communication plan (internal and external)

As a Community manager, I fostered the growth of online communities around the DigitalNZ brand and suite of websites. I managed all promotional activity for their annual Mix & Mash remix competition as well as the release of a newly designed DigitalNZ search website. My work involved:-Developing and implementing promotional plan for Mix & Mash remix competition.-Managing all Mix & Mash and DigitalNZ social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, blog, Google group).-Developing and implementing promotional plan for new DigitalNZ search website.-Writing content for blogs and various education-related publications to promote the new search website.-Writing content for the Mix & Mash and DigitalNZ websites.-Designing and curating exhibitions for trade conferences.-Managing, monitoring and moderating comments across the DigitalNZ website, blog and Facebook accounts.-Producing marketing material, including online advertisements.

I stayed at home with my newborn daughter, Ruby, until she was 9 months old when I decided to return to work part-time. My work involved managing all day-to-day operations with minimal amount of sleep, including feeding, changing, and entertaining a newborn child, balancing competing priorities and implementing the household budget.

As Digital Service Manager, I managed a portfolio of National Library collection digital products, including the Papers Past website and the Kiwi Research Information Network. The work involved:-Managing all day-to-day operations, including prioritising work for developers, handling customer queries, and analysing website statistics. -Managing relationships with stakeholders, customers, governance groups, and software vendors.-Leading user-centered development projects to enhance the services.-Serving as the “middle man” between the stakeholders and the development team.-Collaborating with other Digital Service Managers to develop strategies and processes for overall service management, including lifecycle management and customer feedback management.-Promoting the services to targeted audiences through the use of both traditional and social media.-Managing various National Library social media accounts, including Twitter (@NLNZ) and Flickr (NationalLibraryNZ and NationalLibraryNZ_Commons).

The OSMOSIS pilot was a one-year project that involved developing, testing and evaluating new software designed to improve the accuracy of library holdings on New Zealand’s National Union Catalogue. My work involved:-Managing all aspects of the project, including project progress, communications, and managing internal and external relationships with stakeholders, steering committee and software vendor.-Collaborating with the project team, software vendor and 7 pilot libraries to develop processes and workflows for OSMOSIS software implementation.-Developing a national service model for implementation of the OSMOSIS process.-Maintaining wiki for pilot participants.

I split my time between the Acquisitions team and Schools and Music Cataloguing Team. My work involved:-Cataloguing library collections.-Performing research to an academic standard.-Contributing subject expertise to the National Digital Heritage Archive project.-Leading a project to design trade exhibit at annual library conference.-Collaborating with team members to create documentation.-Establishing and managing relationships with NZ musicians for legal deposit.-Creating and managing the Legal Deposit Office’s MySpace profile.-Creating and managing a wiki for the Bibliographic Services Unit and Schools and Music Team.-Writing content for the intranet.

I catalogued music-related collection material as part of a project leading up to the opening of a new library, the British Organ Library. My work involved:-Online cataloguing of books, scores and sound recordings.-Performing research to an academic standard.-Classifying material for shelving and retrieval.

While pursuing my Master’s degree, I worked in an apprenticeship program designed to provide training and professional development in the library profession. My assistantship involved:-Online cataloguing of books, scores and sound recordings. -Classifying material for shelving and retrieval.-User acceptance testing for new library management system.-Creating and managing content on the music cataloguing team’s website.
