My position within the School of Education spans the entire life cycle of the student; I work with prospective students and their families, interact with incoming students and help build their schedule, sit with students who are considering changing majors, and advise students on the certification process which is completed after graduation. I also work with alumni who have questions about NYS certification and those seeking certification out of state. In addition, I play a key role in developing systems, processes, and policies within the School of Education to assist with student success and retention initiatives.Using student-centered, systems-based thinking, I have developed new processes to consolidate the NYS Teacher Certification process within the School of Education. Prior to my hire, these responsibilities were within a separate office, disconnected from the rest of the education programs. Developing these processes has included building new forms, communicating via email, and updating our website to clearly outline the new processes. During the academic year, I'll process about 200 certification recommendations.In addition to the student-facing roles, I am also responsible for our website and social media. During the 2022-2023 school year I worked closely with a graduate student who developed content and posted to our social media. As we enter the next academic year, I will build a social media calendar and plan, along with templates in Canva for the next graduate assistant to use.
