I chose biology as my major because I never wanted to run the risk of allowing myself to become mediocre. I wanted to push myself to chase a dream that would leave me with more questions than answers. I look at my field as one of great wonder and mystery because there is still so much that we don’t know, and even things that we think we know change every day with the discovery of new concepts. I chose a field that I could not only manipulate, but one that could also manipulate me. Once I have obtained my undergraduate degree, I plan to further my education by attending and completing a PhD. program for environmental science. I am not concerned with where I study as much as I am concerned with the advisor that I choose to study under; being blessed with a graduate mentor who understands what the idea of universal resources means to me would allow me to grow to my fullest potential. I chose environmental science as my graduate focus because our planet is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen; the various landscapes that fit together like a puzzle, accentuated by the many cultures that make our planet so wonderfully diverse.
