My name is Chelsey Tekavec and as a Multimedia Journalism major graduating at Florida Atlantic University on August 9th, 2016. I absolutely love to write and report, but my love is for the focus on sports. My dream would be to do sideline reporting for professional sports teams such as baseball, basketball games or football. I have experience in front of the microphone as well as behind the scenes work and in direct production.I am so interested in sports due to always being an athlete. I played beach volleyball at Florida Atlantic University for two years and played indoor volleyball two years prior. My first year of college I went to Valparaiso University, which is a very small division one school near Chicago. I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio and wanted to stay close to home my first year to see if I could do being away from my family. My family is my everything, but I knew being away would make me grow up very fast. After a year of being five hours from home I believed I could take care of myself enough to go farther away. I knew I was possibly going to see my family less but I had to follow my dreams. My dream every since I was little was to go to college and play a sport in warm weather. I wanted to be in warm weather all the time and near a beach. When I got offers from Florida schools I knew I had to get my release and pack my bags. Going to Florida Atlantic was the best decision I ever made. I have two sisters, Kristi who is 21 and Dena who is 18. Being the oldest I helped motivate my sisters to follow their dreams and push to be the best they could be. Both of my sisters now are at FAU on the indoor beach volleyball team. My hobbies are doing things that will make me a better person.
