Worked under Dr. Emily Mailey Ph.D.I was the lead student manager for a research study with military spouses encouraging physical activity and overall well being. I coordinated the communication, outreach, and program administration efforts for the study during two rounds of implementation. As a member of the Physical Activity Intervention Lab, we worked on research projects with Dr. Emily Mailey. One of the projects was analyzing physical activity messages in popular magazines. Additionally, we partnered up with the Parks and Recreation graduate lab in field research of National Park visitor’s physical activity engagement. We administered on-site orchestration of participant involvement and data collection.

As the intern, my main responsibility was to research existing programs and review relevant research for evidence-based findings to be utilized in the development of a cross-department class curriculum. As a committee, we developed an infant massage class based on my research. I designed and distributed the advertising for the class as well as facilitate the operations and implementation. In addition, I assisted multiple committees and faculty departments with various administrative tasks and projects. This includes but is not limited to assembling packets of handouts, assisting in facilitating staff run programs and classes. I also created a craft project and did face painting for a community event for the Emergency Preparedness department.

Co-Coached the Manhattan Junior Crew (MJC), the Manhattan, KS High School coed Rowing Program of 20-30 athletes. Ensured the safety and wellbeing of athletes and equipment. Working on developing young athletes in both rowing and coxing for Summer, Fall, Winter indoor, and Spring seasons. MJC is apart of the larger Kansas State Rowing Association (KSRA) program. KSRA manages the boathouse, equipment, and USRowing insurance with a Board of Directors. Chelsey's role with MJC made her a five-year member of KSRA following her active years on the board as the college coed rowing program, Kansas State Men's Crew (KSMC)'s Team Secretary.
