For more than 19 years, I have spent my Civil Engineering career working on infrastructure that is almost entirely unseen – sewers. Specifically, I focus on wet weather management and master planning of wastewater and stormwater collection systems, with an emphasis on hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling. This has afforded me the opportunity to work with many of North America’s largest utilities and to serve as a Project Technical Lead on a wide variety of projects. From combined to separated systems, and long-term control plans to basement flooding mitigation, these projects are an exciting reminder of the very tangible impacts that our work can have on communities, even if those impacts were hidden beneath the surface. My sewer modeling experience includes developing high resolution H&H models in 1D/2D environment for separate and combined sewer systems. This includes CSO abatement for combined systems under Consent Decrees, as well as SSO mitigation and rainfall derived inflow/infiltration (RDII) quantification for separate sanitary sewer systems. Leveraging modeling tools, I've tackled neighborhood and street flooding, optimized pump stations and storage facilities, and devised real time control strategies for smarter collection systems. This expertise allows me to address critical infrastructure challenges, improve level of service and ensure communities are prepared for flooding. My hydraulic modeling experience spans across a variety of software packages, including InfoWorks CS/ICM, EPA SWMM5, PCSWMM, MIKE URBAN, InfoSWMM, InfoSewer, SewerGEMS, XPSWMM and EPA SSOAP Toolbox. I have developed such hydraulic models ranging in size from 100 pipes to 100,000 pipes, across North America. I transformed raw system data into actionable insights by spearheading the development of automated routines and Python scripts. These tools analyzed massive datasets on sewer flows, rainfall, and water consumption, helping us efficiently manage system data.Beyond technical responsibilities, I am passionate about volunteering and mentorship within the water industry. I mentor and train developing and mid-career professionals in hydraulic modeling, fostering their growth and development. I am an active member of Ohio Water Environment Association, where I currently serve as President and Board Member for the NESOWEA Executive Committee. Within this role, I collaborate closely with fellow board members, and volunteer over 100 hours each year to organize seven enriching seminars offering 32+ hours of professional development (PDHs), benefiting all NESOWEA members.

Senior Associate, Senior Civil EngineerStantec Dec 2021 - PresentEdmonton, Alberta, CaI am a Senior Associate and Collection Systems Discipline Lead in Stantec’s Water Business Line. As Project Technical Lead, I provide technical support to municipal clients and utilities on a wide variety of projects including, CSO/SSO modeling and planning, wet weather master planning, long term control plans, combined/separate sewer system characterization under existing and proposed conditions, surface flooding and basement flooding mitigation. In addition to providing H&H modeling training, I lead quality control and provide independent technical reviews for a variety of 1D/2D H&H modeling projects.I have extensive collection system knowledge and experience and have led projects developing high-resolution hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models in 1-D and 2-D environments using industry standard hydraulic modeling software. These hydraulic models were used to develop a range of alternatives to support decision-making and meet consent driven requirements. I have more than 18 years of experience with calibrating and validating wastewater and stormwater collection system models adhering to strict calibration standards. I have extensive experience utilizing hydraulic models as decision making tools in developing planning level alternatives and preliminary design options involving deep tunnels, consolidation sewers, inline storage options, offline storage tanks, regulator modifications, upsizing interceptor sewers and developing real time control strategies to minimize sewer overflows and maximize sewer system capacity. In addition, my experience includes developing modeling strategies for combined and separate sanitary sewer systems to assess wet weather performance, analyze capacity constraints, inflow/infiltration quantification, identifying hydraulic constraints, analyze future growth conditions, and analyze post vs. pre-rehabilitation effectiveness. -
