About Jeremy Wright, Phd
I have a strong passion for science and engineering of all types, but with a special interest in materials science/engineering. My innate curiosity has made me very self-motivated and has been my main driving force throughout my life. Now that I have earned a PhD in chemical engineering, I am looking forward to finding a job that will provide me multiple avenues to sate my curiosity as well as provide new challenges to pique my curiosity.4+ years of experience operating FESEM, FTIR, DRIFTS, ATR-FTIR, UV-Vis, XRD. 8+ years of experience coding in Matlab. I received my PhD in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University in November 2019. My research provided the groundwork for a newly emergent field of study known as Reactive Cavitation Erosion (RCE). RCE is a new materials processing technique for top-down nanomaterials production in which acoustic cavitation erosion is induced in a reactive fluid to produce funtionalized nanomaterial. My contributions include: the development of a new model for acoustic cavitation erosion , the Hemispherical Pit Model, that is based upon a simple geometric model of the volume loss process and contains parameters that may be more directly related to material properties and experimental conditions; analysis of bubble dynamics at the high acoustic pressures commensurate with RCE based on solution of the Rayleigh-Plesset and Keller-Miksis equations for a single spherical bubble; and proof of concept synthesis of functionalized clinoatacamite nanomaterial via RCE.During my graduate studies I also obtained experience in the top-down production of functionalized nanomaterials via Reactive High-Energy Ball Milling (RHEBM).
