A sociologist and a social policy scholar-practitioner-activist with a keen interest in intersectionality. My heart lies in understanding and dismantling structural drivers of complex social inequalities.Currently, I'm doing this through my PhD research, which explores the institutional life of intersectionality within Australian public policymaking contexts. In particular, I'm using observational and interview-based methods to examine how public servants understand, respond to and apply intersectionality's key principles in their day-to-day work. By profession, I'm also a public servant myself.I'm also proud to serve on non-profit boards, supporting social purpose organisations to do what they do best. My approach to governance is based on five (plus) years of volunteering across the youth and multicultural sectors, in a variety of advisory roles — drawing upon my lived experience expertise as a young, Chinese-Australian woman of colour. I love conversations about developing impactful strategy, building truly inclusive team and organisational cultures, and expanding what it means to practise ethical leadership.Any views I share are entirely my own, and not of the organisations I am employed by or collaborate with!
