My research focuses on leveraging multiple-disciplinary knowledge to explore the underlying sampling strategy of path planning behavior of animals under high uncertainty, which involves:1. Application of information theory, especially information/entropy maximization and proportional-betting sampling strategy through the recursive Bayesian filtering, to model the path planning strategy of animals.2. Triangulation techniques including SfM and bundle adjustment to build a real-time closed-loop 3D tracking and reconstruction system for free-swimming underwater robots that apply the information-driven path planning for navigation.3. Designed and built closed-loop animal behavior tracking system using computer vision and signal processing techniques including dense optical flow

I am proud to get involved in cutting-edge curriculum reform for non-CS engineering undergraduate students to have better emphases on programming and algorithm as essential problem-solving skills. Towards that goal, I worked as both guest lecturer and consultant for two quarters under two different professors and have made several key contributions involving:1. Completely redesigned a 200 level course with a focus on comprehensive learning of Python programming language, basic algorithm thinking skills, and data-driven analysis and visualizations;2. Taught a good number of lectures on data-driven analysis and statistical analysis with Python;3. Designed various infrastructures including assignment auto-grader with nbgrader and Linux "deep-focus" environment for distraction-free learning;4. (Mostly importantly) Helped with documentation on the knowledge and feedback from the first two quarter of the redesigned course, which served as a successful recipe for future course designs.
