 Working in Bloomberg High Availability Time Series (BHATS) team as a senior Java/Hadoop/HBase developer. BHATS is the (consumer) time-series/time related data store with support for storage of multi-temporal data sets and retrievals against multiple temporal dimensions. This would serve the needs for various periodic (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.), date specific as well as potentially intraday timeframes (by hour or by minute) datasets with point in time, as-of-date, as-reported use cases. As an active participant in defining the overall BHATS ecosystem roadmap, identified how we can improve our platform with performance analysis activities and metrics data. Designed and implemented a few enhancements, optimizations and end-to-end features. Provided leadership and mentoring toward a few new micro services implementations.

 Architected, designed, and developed a URL transformation and routing gateway system (UI, Handler, Service, Database, and Monitor). This system has a highly efficient Kernel built on Core Java, Java Web and SpEL, distributed on a cluster of balanced servers to support peak traffic demand. Features include easy setup of URL routing rules, tiny URLs, asynchronous tasks/tracking, customized parameters and functions, A/B testing templates, one-click publish to production and on-time traffic monitoring and alerting. Since launch, the system handles all SEM, Meta and Email marketing campaigns which produce over 5 million requests per day.  Rearchitected a legacy message queuing system which is critical to Priceline’s back end connectivity to travel suppliers. Partnered with a leading Global Distribution Service (GDS) to implement the new messaging system with minimal migration impacts for existing internal clients. Collaborated with four vertical product teams to design and implement stress testing strategies and passed the load test with a very promising result.  Researched two API gateway systems (Kong and Synapse) to improve scale, throttling control and security of the existing gateway. Built the plugin prototypes with customized routing and load balancing features to benchmark the performance and extensibility of both systems.

 Lead the architecture design, development and implementation of a full-service Online Marketing Platform to manage 400+ million advertising keywords, 1 billion SEM campaign data and 200+ million Meta search bidding. Delivered an impressive list of valuable features, foundation optimizations an¬¬d UI tools. Tackled increasing data challenges with Scale, Caching, Batch, Staging, Multi-threads, Incremental Sync, Async Bulk Upload, Auto Bidding, Database Tuning/Partitioning/Denormalizing. Introduced Kafka and Hadoop to improve platform analytics on a distributed system.  Lead and mentored the Email Marketing tech team to refactor and optimize a proprietary email marketing platform. Consolidated the platform to three core modules with a reusable common module. Architected, designed, and implemented four major end-user features which enhanced large scale email campaigns and laid the foundation of the email journey workflow.

 Worked on-site with the client Adeptra, Inc. to gather requirements, review design, estimate efforts, triage tasks, track schedule, manage and coordinate the offshore team (24 engineers) to deliver high quality IVR applications under tight time frames. Self-designed and built an Autotool using Groovy & Java to execute an automated checklist which reduced the team rework and human errors.  Led an 8-person Java dev team to design and implement a comprehensive Web Assistant used by the company itself to easily conduct any internal business or activates, such as Probation, Training, Meeting, Resume, Timesheet, Dinner, Forum, Recruitment etc. Practiced the Agile & Scrum methodology.

 Nexaweb Studio is an advanced Eclipse-based IDE that supports visual development of Rich Internet Application. Worked with client to spec out each feature, with team to design and implement the Eclipse Plugins (SWT/JFace). Maintained a stable and productive team to meet client’s release schedule.  Led a 5-person Java dev team to design and implement SVNAdmin in 3 months by using XP practices. Created a high performance and user-friendly UI to manage Subversion (SVN) authorization, repositories, and accounts. Also, combined with the company Active Directory.

 Collected requirements and designed a multi-tier J2EE web application, defined interfaces, and trained team to implement different modules. The project College OA Integration System was designed to eliminate barriers between the existing OA System, Academic System, and Campus Card System etc.
