The Directors Lab West is a annual ten day event that takes place at the Pasadena Playhouse. Every year, 50 directors are chosen from all over the world to participate in a series of workshops, panels and shows.

​What is a dramaturge? Although it’s been nearly 40 years since the profession was introduced to America, our function is still a mystery to many. Dramaturgy straddles the border region somewhere between the script and the performance. A good dramaturge asks questions but does not seek to rewrite the play. It is my passion is to aid the writer in fulfilling their intention and to see their work through to production. I believe that writers feel compelled to write because they are in search of the truth. I strive to create a welcoming atmosphere and nurturing environment for writers to do their best work. I am committed to diversifying the voices of the American theatre, and I have an effective framework and track record for accomplishing that. ​​

Teaching Solo Show performance which combines acting and writing techniques so that actors can create their own work. We believe that it is important for actors to generate their own work in the entertainment industry. Writing their own show is a step in the right direction so that they can have control over their career.

The LA Writers Center (LAWC) which is designed to germinate and foster new works by involving not only the writer, but a team of artists: directors, dramaturges, and actors. Provided with a safe and nurturing environment in which to read and workshop their work, writers are able to hone and sharpen their skills to a degree that would make them inherently more production-ready, and thus more likely to be produced. Bursting new talent cries out for a sort of incubator for emerging new works; a place where scripts can grow and develop into the stories that they want to be, without the pressure or expense of production. We believe that the future of American theatre depends upon its ability to grow and stretch; to be itself transformed in the meeting of bold, new voices. Our 40+ members consist of writers, directors, actors and dramaturges. Our members are Academy Award Winners, Lois and Richard Rosenthal Playwriting Prize Finalists, New Century Writer Award Finalists, Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department Grants Recipients, SCR California New Plays Prize Winners, PEN West Literary Award Drama Nominees, New York Drama Desk Award winners, Los Angeles Drama Critics’ Circle Award Winners, Humanitarian Award Winners, and NAACP Award Winners. They have been produced at The Public Theater, South Coast Repertory Theater, The Pasadena Playhouse, The Alleyway Theatre, San Jose Repertory Company, The Road Theatre Company, The Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT), Downtown Urban Theater Festival, Latino Theater Company at LATC, Sacred Fools, The NYC International Fringe Festival, Actors Express Theatre, Currican Theatre, Annex Theatre, Celebration Theatre, and The National Black Theatre Festival, among others.

Che'Rae enjoys consulting on projects that involve education and theatre. She has served as an Education Consultant for Impro Theatre and has consulted for Culver City High School on the operations for the Robert Frost Auditorium.

The Moss Theater is a world class, state of the art, 350 seat theater which presents performing arts and social justice genres. Partnerships include Live Talks LA, Human Rights Watch, Writers Bloc, Orchestra Santa Monica, LACO, Young Storytellers, etc. Responsible for the programming of 350 seat theater, overseeing 10-20 employees, including tech and admin. Develop relationships with artists and producers as well as oversee budgeting and general operations.
